2008 Launch and initial build out
GEM was founded in to compete with traditional “big balance sheet” market makers in oil. GEM moved quickly to achieve full scale by harnessing the trading infrastructure of its partner company, and exchange and broker relationships solidified quickly. The development of proprietary trading software and the addition of talented and experienced traders enhanced the firm’s capacity and capability.
2013 Execution of trading philosophy
The ability of GEM’s trading team to competitively and quickly respond to continuous quote requests gave it the leading position across all benchmark products and made the firm a vital source of market liquidity. Excellent exchange relationships also provided important support for new products, and ongoing investment in position management and pricing systems continued to drive growth.
